THE SKINNY

The Skinny is Scotland’s best arts and culture magazine. Started by a group of ten volunteers in 2005, The Skinny presents a cross-section of the most exciting cultural happenings across Scotland. We cover the best new music, film, comedy, theatre, visual art, food and drink, club nights, literature and spoken word to be found in Edinburgh, Glasgow and beyond.

We publish a free monthly magazine, as well as annual Guides to Edinburgh and Glasgow, regular podcasts and social media, live events, plus a daily mix of reviews, interviews, Q+As and features.

Our readers rely on us to be honest, engaging and curious. We offer informed, entertaining coverage of all things cultural, constantly seeking out new developments before the crowds catch on.

And we’re independent – we aren’t part of a big conglomerate or media group, we’re just a team of people in a small office in Edinburgh (and dozens of living rooms, co-working spaces and kitchen counters across the country) trying to shine a light on the people and places that excite us.

You can find print copies of The Skinny at locations across Scotland every month – find the full list of distribution locations here.

To help you keep on top of what’s happening across Scotland, we whittle down each week’s events into The Skinny Zap – our email newsletter lands in inboxes every Friday, sign up here.
